The neighborhood just north of us
The neighborhood takes its name from West Colfax Avenue, its busiest street. Its western edge is Sheridan Boulevard, the same boulevard our shop is on, so the trip here from anywhere in the neighborhood starts on streets you already use.
A short history, in the order it happened
Town to neighborhood. The town that gave the area its name was incorporated in 1891 and annexed by the City of Denver in 1897. The town became a neighborhood and kept the name.
The avenue. The avenue runs east through Lakewood and enters Denver at Sheridan Boulevard, so its Denver stretch begins on the same boulevard our shop is on. At just under 50 miles, it is known as the longest continuous commercial street in the United States.
Hospital out, train in. The old Saint Anthony hospital site in the neighborhood was demolished in 2013 and is being redeveloped into mixed-use and residential buildings. The same year the W Line arrived, when Sheridan station opened on April 26, 2013, with Perry and Knox stations inside the neighborhood to the east.
Getting here from inside the neighborhood
Perry station at 1199 Perry Street is 1.5 miles and about 4 minutes by car from the store. Knox station at 1245 Knox Court is 1.7 miles and about 5 minutes by car from the store. Paco Sanchez Park is 2.2 miles and about 6 minutes by car from the store.
On two wheels, the Denver sections of the gulch have an adjacent bike path, which is the quiet way across the neighborhood without riding the avenue.
What the counter looks like when you arrive
We fill your order right in front of you, out of the jar. If you have not shopped that way before, deli style is explained here. To save the wait, put your order in on the live menu for in-store pickup.
Riding the W Line east toward the stadium on game day? The game day page covers it. Across the boulevard to the west is another city, with its own page. Hours and directions are on our location page.
